Charles F. Thompson, Jr, is a native of Aurora who has devoted his entire professional career to representing the victims of negligence, and those who have suffered injuries in the workplace. He has achieved several record multimillion-dollar jury awards. These have included a $3 million wrongful death verdict in Kane County (Sukosd v. Templeton, and an injury award of $15.6 million in Cook County (Kresin v. Sears, affirmed on appeal, 316 Ill.App.3d 433, 736 NE2d 171 (1st Dist. 2000)). He is Past President of the Kane County Bar Association; Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, and a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Thompson was the founder of this firm, dedicating it to the principle that the injured victims were entitled to representation unencumbered by conflicting loyalties. John M. Lamont joined Thompson in the founding of the firm in 1980. He has developed expertise in the preparation and presentation of evidence in complex cases involving medical negligence, product liability, and transportation (railroad) negligence. Lamont achieved significant verdicts in DeKalb County ($1.45 million for automobile negligence in Phelan v. Patel); and in Kane County ($3.1 million for injuries in an aviation/ballooning accident, Swanson v. Geneva Chamber of Commerce). He and Thompson, working as a team, have tried many significant cases to verdict. He has also represented clients in many important appeals, including Kus v. Sherman Hospital, 268 Ill.App.3d 771, 644 NE2d 1214 (2nd Dist. 1995). He has written and lectured for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Lamont is a member of the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, currently serving on its Executive Board; a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
